I enjoyed cooking for chemo because it took into account the funny tastes I got from time to time.
About Cooking for Chemo and After
Cooking for Chemo ...and After! is a how-to-cook cookbook that teaches you how to adjust your cooking for someone going through chemotherapy. This cookbook focuses on teaching you how to adjust the flavor of your favorite foods so you can enjoy eating again! It is filled with 90 pages of culinary theory and over 100 pages of recipes that will teach you how to apply what you just learned.
This book was written by Chef Ryan Callahan based on his first-hand experience acting as primary caregiver for his mother, while she went through chemotherapy. Anybody who has ever gone through chemotherapy, acted as a caregiver, or knows someone who has gone through chemo will admit that combating and living with the metallic tastes in your mouth is one of the hardest parts of going through chemotherapy. This book specifically addresses this problem head on and gives you easy, real life solutions to tackle this issue. These solutions can be employed in conjunction with any diet regimen or dietary restriction.
Cooking for Chemo …and After! is not a "new fad-diet" cookbook or a “what to eat, what not to eat” nutritional guide. Cooking for Chemo …and After! is a book that teaches you how to think and cook like a chef. It is a book that teaches you how to adjust flavor. This book will change the way you cook and see food. Cooking for Chemo …and After! will change your life!
Very helpful for a friend whose mother just completed chemo. Kudos to Ryan!
I got this book and found it to be amazing! I really enjoyed it! I love how it taught me how to properly season my food. I went from kind of being able to cook to really learning how to give my food that POP that it has been missing. The book doesn't have pictures of what the food looks like but it does hold your hand through the entire cooking process telling you what the food should taste like and how to fix (adjust) your cooking along the way! One last thing that I need to mention is the the font! It was the first thing that I noticed when I opened the book. OMG! It is so different and fun! It really helps liven up a very heavy and depressing topic. The book overall is helpful and educational!
