A few weeks after treatment I started doing some yoga at home. I bought a few guides with special poses for cancer patients and survivors, they were very useful.
About Gentle Healing Yoga for Cancer
Healing Yoga for Cancer is designed for all types of cancer, and is a very gentle and easy practice. Perfect for beginners, those in active treatment, anyone with limited mobility, or low energy days. This video features 40 minutes of gentle and accessible poses, plus a bonus in-depth 15 minute guided meditation which calms the nervous system, relaxes the body and muscles, and zones in on tight spots and areas that need additional healing energy. For low energy days when a physical practice is not an option, simply doing the meditation alone can be energizing and healing. We are just beginning to understand the profound impact and power of the mind-body connection as it relates to cancer. Studies by major medical institutions have shown that cancer patients who have a regular yoga practice were more relaxed, experienced less pain and fatigue, had better quality of life, and were half as likely to be depressed than their counterparts.
The DVD creates active energy through standing poses, restorative energy through mat poses, and mental and physical relaxation from meditation. The practice can be done in the privacy of your home, with friends, or in a communal setting with other survivors.

A really good workout but offering exactly the right level of challenge. The meditation at the end is fabulous!
This is perfect for anyone recovering for treatment or anyone with a chronic condition. I had chemo some months ago but am suffering from anxiety and exhaustion. This is a really thoughtful yoga DVD - the exercises are all about destressing and focusing on breath and emptying your thoughts. The exercises are well thought out -not too strenuous. There is a 15 minute meditation at the end that focuses on chakras and you could do this on it's own quite easily. If you want to build up strength you could always add in some extra exercises yourself once you feel comfortable with these ones but I found this DVD very energissing even on a tired day. I really like the tutor's style and would highly recommend - shame on the price but for me this a small cost to bring me some relief.
