Hypothermia Cooling Gloves
To help people live better with cancer, we donate $1000 to the American Cancer Society every month.
I was warned I could lose my fingernails and toenails due to intensive chemotherapy. So I decided to use the gloves and slippers and I must say I am quite satisfied. I still notice my fingernails are softer and slightly damaged but I have not lost them and that is very important to me.
About Hypothermia Cooling Gloves
Chemotherapy can lead to damage or even loss of finger nails. These cooling gloves are specially designed to reduce nail damage by cooling down the hands and as such reducing the blood flow which in turn reduces the amount of chemotherapy drugs that reach the fingernails.
These are the same gloves that are often provided by cancer care providers. Please make sure that they will not be given to you to use before you buy your own. Some patients decide to have their own cooling gloves to prevent chemo damage to nails even when they are provided by their cancer units as they prefer not to share.
You will need one set of gloves per 45 minutes of chemo (add 30 minutes to the total infusion time as you will need to cool for 15 minutes before and after chemo).
Hypothermia Cooling Slippers are available here.
Please note: Elastogel produce a whole range of cooling products, and we're aware that there are similar 'cooling gloves' from Elastogel available at a lower price than the products listed on this page. However, we'd like to assure you that the gloves listed here are a professional medical care product, recommended for use during chemotherapy - whereas cheaper versions available elsewhere are not indicated for nail toxicity prevention during cancer treatment.
