They are entirely neutral tasting and, when soaked in water or other liquids, swell up and absorb up to 9 times their weight in liquid. Chia seeds are excellent at helping to alleviate constipation and sluggish digestion by adding bulk and water to stools. These seeds are also high in fibre, as well as being rich in other beneficial nutrients.

A 1 ounce (28 grams) serving of chia seeds contains:

  • Fiber: 11 grams.
  • Protein: 4 grams.
  • Fat: 9 grams (5 of which are Omega-3s).
  • Calcium: 18% of the RDA.
  • Manganese: 30% of the RDA.
  • Magnesium: 30% of the RDA.
  • Phosphorus: 27% of the RDA.

How do I use RealFoodSource Whole Natural Dark Chia Seeds?


For a tasty chia pudding, add a few tablespoons of chia seeds to a milk of your choice (eg. cow's milk, almond or coconut milk) together with some honey and leave to soak for a few hours, or ideally overnight.  Add fruit of your choice to serve.
