Absorbing book. I can't put it down. Her psychology background makes it even more informative.
About Rise: Surviving and Thriving After Trauma
Sian Williams is an award-winning journalist known for her work on BBC television and Radio 4. A week before her 50th birthday she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a double mastectomy, changing the way she viewed life completely. Her journey to recovery was hard-fought, so she sought out others who had rebuilt their shattered worlds after very different personal traumas, to see how they’d done it and why they felt stronger than before. Their lessons are in this book, along with honest personal diaries which are both uplifting and helpful. They’re woven together with the latest science on resilience and my research on how to make psychology, sleep, diet and activity work for all of us, to get us through the toughest of times.
It felt good relating to someone who went through similar feelings and thought processes.
